The lines of the next Chevrolet Equinox were already known to the general public. Division bow tie did not wait for the doors of the Detroit Auto Show opened to reveal its new Equinox 2010. Indeed, the crossover was officially unveiled on the Web in mid-December. For against, the Chevrolet small truck on display for the first time its new body panels to the international press and the result is not bad at all.

Family traits

A small truck incorporates strong visual elements of Malibu and the latest Traverse. The grille is the first thing one notices, while the wheels are pushed to the four corners of the vehicle. Fenestration is not very high but the windows behind the C pillar wrap the two rear corners, a bit like the Traverse. At the rear is a logical evolution of the outgoing model. The new design leaves the impression that it is larger than before, but it is not. The wheelbase is identical, the total length is losing an inch and gained one in width. The model 2010 roll on wheels 17, 18 or 19 inches, depending on the trim level selected.

Two Engine Choices

GM will offer two engines: the first, a four-cylinder Ecotec 2.4-liter developing 182 horsepower, which should improve the consumption of 25% over the previous model, the second, a V6 3.0-liter is good for 255 horses. This crossover in front will be available in AWD. Chevrolet also announced that the autonomy of both engines is expected to reach 800 km on a single tank. The base model will not be devoid of argument with its six airbags, four disc brakes, the system that controls Stabilitrak traction and lateral stability, OnStar and XM satellite radio plus a free entry Intelligent Key.

Interior Made Better

Chevrolet has also inspired by the Malibu to develop inside the Equinox, a good quality considering the assembly of the sedan. Side storage space, the glove box is very large, the dashboard provides a closed space between the front seats, the compartment can accommodate a laptop. The blue lighting of the dashboard is superb and the glass doors to receive the same treatment. The rear 60/40 split row can still be moved forward to increase the capacity of the trunk, a plus for the interior space. 

Full Technology

Chevrolet for a product, iit will offer a lot of gadgets internal option on some models such as a navigation system with touch screen of 7 inches, a Bluetooth device, a DVD system with two screens housed in front benches in the rear seats, a hard drive for storing music, a back door and even an automatic reversing camera. You can even opt for a superior audio system.

The 2010 Chevrolet Equinox will be available in mid-year.
